Every year, our volunteers:
• Provide fresh, healthy food to Baltimore communities
• Transform vacant lots into thriving green spaces
• Support families, youth, and older adults
• Strengthen neighborhoods block by block
When you volunteer with Civic Works, you’re not just giving your time—you’re becoming part of lasting change.
Getting started is simple:
Do I need experience?
No experience is needed—just bring a willingness to help.
Can I volunteer with a group?
Yes! We welcome corporate teams, schools, and community groups.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes.
Will I receive instructions?
Yes, our team will guide you every step of the way.
Help clean, green, and restore neighborhoods through landscaping and vacant lot revitalization.
Support food access in Baltimore by packing and distributing fresh produce. You can also help us clear and prepare a vacant lot for future farming.
Help prepare Civic Works graduates for real-world job opportunities by conducting practice interviews and providing constructive feedback. This is a great way to directly support workforce development and build confidence in job seekers.
We bring together more than 200 volunteers on the first Saturday of October to complete projects in communities across Baltimore and honor Ricky Myers, a former Civic Works staff member who devoted his life to service.
Projects include community clean-ups, improving outdoor spaces, and helping nonprofit organizations like The Loading Dock, Second Chance and ShareBaby organize donated supplies.
We celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through service and by working toward a more just and equitable society, where everyone is valued and respected, regardless of their race, ability, religion, or background. Civic Works brings together more than 200 volunteers on MLK Day every January to improve indoor and outdoor spaces in Baltimore.
“Volunteering with Civic Works helped me feel more connected to my community. You can see the impact right away.”
“It’s an amazing experience to work alongside people who truly care about Baltimore.”
