Planting Baltimore's Community Canopy

The Community Canopy Program offers comprehensive training aimed at building a local, skilled, green workforce. Each year, a cohort of four individuals receives extensive, hands-on instruction in tree planting and care. Job-readiness training and mentorship are integrated into the program, enabling participants to transition seamlessly into local environmental organizations upon completion. The program emphasizes community engagement and promotes environmental stewardship to ensure its impact extends beyond its participants.
The communities we are working with include Broadway East, Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello, Belair-Edison, Four-by-Four, South Clifton Park, Darley Park, and East Baltimore Midway.
Each year, Community Canopy will plant and maintain 500 trees, educate 150 residents, directly involve 90 community advisors in project planning, and engage 100 volunteers in reforesting their neighborhoods.

Please contact Kimberly at ksciarrino@civicworks.com, if you’d like to add trees to your community or know someone who may be interested in becoming a trainee.
