Our Center for Sustainable Careers provides construction companies in Maryland with highly-trained, highly-skilled workers. Our industry training tracks include: solar installation, energy retrofit installation, and utility infrastructure. Over time, we’ve developed a reputation for world-class training and graduates that perform at the highest level. Over 1000 Baltimore residents have graduated from Civic Works’ job training programs and over 85% of program graduates secure job placements, with an average starting wage of $18.
“…Civic Works enhances Baltimore’s Brownfields Initiative, administered by my office, by providing employers with a qualified workforce capable of addressing the contamination found at many of our sites slated for redevelopment.”
“As a Baltimore City resident, volunteer instructor and employer of a Civic Works graduate, I have been continuously impressed by the scope and quality of the program, the professionalism of your staff, and the aspirations of the program participants.”
Civic Works’ community outreach team leverages the power of its expansive referral network, word-of-mouth, and community-based marketing to reach candidates across the Baltimore area. As a trusted messenger with a strong track record, Civic Works is able to build trust in the benefits of building a career and a trade. Our program is also built to continually assess trainee commitment and aptitude through a multi-step screening process, including an information session, written application, urinalysis drug screening, hands-on skills test, and several interviews.
Our program instructors and trainers are accredited professionals in their fields. Our roofing curriculum and hands-on lab modules are crafted with input and feedback from actual roofing employers and industry professionals. Additionally, all job candidates work one-on-one with a social worker and job readiness coach throughout the program to eliminate personal barriers to employment and ensure attendance and punctuality.
We invest in employer partnerships for the long-term, to match the right candidates for your business and meet your hiring needs. With better employee retention rates, employers have the ability to invest more in their workforce and less on hiring.
