Here’s to 25 more years of service to Baltimore!

Monday, October 29th, 2018 – Last Saturday was an amazing night! Surrounded by friends old and new, the sold out crowd reminded us of the overwhelming support we’ve received over the past 25 years. Over five hundred people joined us on October 27th to celebrate our anniversary, enjoy a performance by our friend Ira Glass, and honor our founders, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Dana Stein.

In 1993, Carr Holmes, an early Civic Works corpsmember, was part of a group of Civic Works corpsmembers who were invited to the White House to witness the signing of national service legislation that created AmeriCorps.

Carr Holmes poses for a picture with Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Civic Works’ co-founder, while holding a photo of himself shaking hands with President Bill Clinton.

We’re grateful to everyone who came to celebrate this momentous occasion, and very appreciative of the 145 people who pledged donations that night– in just a few minutes, we raised over $10,000 to change lives here in Baltimore! It is because of the support of community members like you that we have made it 25 years. Even if you weren’t able to attend last Saturday’s event, we are so grateful to you for being a part of our community and for supporting our work.
