Chesapeake Employers Celebrates 100th Anniversary with $115,000 for Maryland Nonprofits

To mark its 100th anniversary, Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company committed to providing $115,000 to Maryland nonprofits. Today, the company announced the recipients of its Bridge to the Future grant program to aid Maryland nonprofits that support workforce development for unemployed or underemployed Marylanders.

Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company recently awarded 23 first-place grants totaling $115,000 to nonprofit, human service organizations across Maryland that help develop the employability of the clients served by the nonprofits. Each grant recipient received $5,000. The company announced the formation of the Bridge to the Future grant program in May 2014 and committed to awarding $100,000 in grants. However, the company awarded more money than it originally pledged due to the number of qualified applications.

“When we launched the Bridge to the Future grant program, we were expecting to award $100,000 in grants,” explained Tom Phelan, President and CEO of Chesapeake Employers. “As the applications for well-qualified nonprofits poured in, we recognized the great need across the state and the important work of the first-place recipients to prepare deserving persons for meaningful employment.”
